The Marco Polo mountain sheep (Ovis ammon polii) is the largest of the argali subspecies. This species of sheep lives in the mountainous and foothill areas of Central Asia at an altitude of 1300-6100 m. The sheep’s legs are tall and slender, which, along with the spiral shape of their horns, distinguishes them from mountain goats. Both males and females have horns, but in males they are much larger, can reach 190 cm in length and make up to 13 % of the total body weight. The horns are very beautiful, they are twisted in a spiral with the ends outwards and upwards; and, unfortunately, are extremely popular among hunters as a hunting trophy.
Tajikistan offers excellent hunting for Marco Polo argali. Over the past 12 years, our hunters have achieved 100% success. The average size of the trophy is between 55 and 56 inches, with several sheep ranging in size from 60 to 62 inches each season. We have the most experienced guides: two guides for each hunter. Good hunting of Central Asian mountain goats and wolves can be included.
